Strengthening the associative fabric in the region

The building of community and social fabric that associations create is essential for the recovery of citizens' trust and for the strengthening of democracy. 

We cannot face any challenge as a society if we do not do it together.


Listen. Get involved. Love the place where you live.


A community foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to articulating and strengthening the local community. It mobilises and channels resources and capacities that improve people's lives.
The community foundation thinks about the long-term future and articulates change from within the communities.
They stimulate the philanthropy that individuals, institutions, associations, and businesses from the community offer. Imagine a collective piggy bank of economic, technical, infrastructure, and space resources, natural, human, social, cultural capital, etc., that is focused on social investment in the community.
In the current times of polarization and discouragement around the common space, we need proximity institutions that are unifying, optimistic, and take responsibility for building trust.
There are people and groups around us who quietly dedicate their time to improving a small part of communal life. Several parents in the school family association. The board of directors of the neighbourhood association. The team of volunteers from the village music band. The volunteer leaders of the youth club or scout group.

It is necessary to recognise this key role of associations in the territory to generate social change.

Listening is fundamental. The community has a complete view of the things that affect it. We need to understand and identify what the assets,
the opportunities,
the needs,
and the solutions are.

And this cannot be done without first listening.

There is a willingness to participate by also contributing resources. People think about it at the individual, but also their own associations, which when they obtain their own resources think about the best way to impact society. The business community of La Plana also needs reliable proposals that contribute to the improvement of our immediate environment.

The Foundation specifically and seriously channels the philanthropy and solidarity of an entire community, so that it returns to itself.

The strengthening of local associations and the facilitation of alliances is fundamental. Associations must be considered as a cohesive element of special interest in La Plana.

They need resources to face:

  • the fiscal and accounting challenges of the future,
  • their various legal obligations,
  • the methodology of work,
  • the ways to finance themselves and be solvent in the long term,

but also

  • how to reach the citizenry,
  • address the professionalisation of what they do,
  • learn to offer profitable services,
  • establish solid alliances.

We want to channel all the resources of the community so that our associations advance and improve their situation.

We have already gone through different delicate situations in recent years. We have seen how useful it has been to have institutions rooted in the areas affected by disasters or global events.

Everything we can prepare in this regard will serve in the future to take better care of ourselves against the challenges that may come our way. The climate emergency is one of them. But we will have others.

Responding to emergencies will require, in the future, an organised community.

One of the most valuable jobs that community foundations do is to involve members and agents of the community in improving their environment. Everyone who wants to should feel part of it.

We work daily to adapt all the work to the current context and bring it closer to the specific reality of our territory.

Before constituting, we gather local leaders to present the proposal and project of the Foundation.
