Last Thursday, 4th December 2025, the public presentation of the new Community Foundation La Plana took place in Castelló de la Plana.
During that afternoon from 6pm, at its social headquarters, the Associative Ateneu on Botànic Cavanilles Street 17, in the university district of Castelló, more than 80 people from different social entities and associations gathered to celebrate the creation of the new institution.
The event was led by Ivan Checa, a journalist from the province and media editor. During it, some of the members of the future board, and precursors of the initiative, explained the next steps, the mission of the entity, and the ideas for projects to be developed. Julio Huerta Balastegui, director of the Community Foundations programme of the Spanish Association of Foundations, highlighted the importance of having a community foundation that acts locally on the challenges of the specific territory, such as the region of La Plana Alta and Baja.
The Foundation has initiated the process of establishment, with this public call for contributions from the community to build the fund of the foundational endowment required by legislation for the establishment of this type of entity.
It is expected that the institution will be formally established between April and May 2026. To this end, it is also currently making contact with some key individuals and relevant members of the regional associative fabric, to form the board of the entity, which will direct its first actions once established.
The main mission of the foundation is to listen to the entities, gather resources and distribute them among the most relevant associative initiatives, to strengthen our community and enable it to face the challenges of the future.
